Cela a permis d’introduire les Whisperers ! Les Whisperers sont enfin arrivés dans The Walking Dead. Ces derniers ont fait trembler tout le monde hier soir. Les téléspectateurs ont assisté à l’épisode de la mi saison et cet épisode a fait une victime majeure ! Tom Payne, qui incarne Jesus, avait teasé un épisode flippant » et il a bien eu saison. Le petit groupe a rapidement croisé la route de zombies. Néanmoins, ils ont réalisé que ces derniers agissaient bizarrement et avaient l’air bien plus intelligents. Finalement, Eugene a confié à Daryl que les zombies parlaient et qu’ils le recherchaient. Dans un premier temps, le groupe s’est montré plutôt sceptique et n’a pas cru Eugene. Pourtant, l’homme avait bien raison et Jesus en a payé le prix fort. Le groupe a dû se battre contre les zombies qui étaient en fait les Whisperers. Jesus a reçu un coup de couteau qui a réussi à traverser son armure et qui a touché son cœur. Finalement, le Whisperers a empoigné Jesus juste avant que celui-ci ne meurt et lui a dit Tu es là où tu n’appartiens pas ». Daryl et les autres n’ont rien pu faire pour sauver l’homme et ce fût un véritable massacre pendant cette séquence… La série The Walking Dead ne reviendra pas avant 2019 aux Etats-Unis. Comme souvent, cet épisode était scindé entre plusieurs événements, mais pas plus de deux trames cette fois et c’était amplement suffisant. S’abonner à Captain Popcorn Deux groupes, deux ambiances En revanche, ce treizième chapitre a eu la bonne idée de reprendre directement la suite du précédent, avec la fuite nocturne de Daryl, Connie, Lydia et Henry. Pour ce qui est de la face B de l’épisode, l’apparition, inattendue pour moi, d’un nouveau groupe, et oui encore, a au moins permis une touche de nouveauté dans la résolution du conflit initial. Voilà qui a permis de donner un épisode plaisant à suivre, nerveux et pour une fois dépourvu de scène vraiment inutiles ou consternante. Connie prend les choses en main ! Dès les premiers pas du groupe dans la nuit, la question de Lydia est âprement débattue. Pour Daryl, pas question qu’elle reste avec eux, mais c’est sans compter Connie qui prend les choses en main et décide pour le reste du groupe. Même Dog la suit, ce qui nous vaut un grommellement de Daryl qui m’a bien fait sourire. En termes de développement de personnage, c’est Connie qui ressort comme la principale gagnante ici. Elle obtient non seulement le respect de Daryl, ce qui n’est pas chose facile, mais elle parvient même à rapprocher le solitaire au cœur brisé de celui qu’il était auparavant, toujours prêt à porter secours à ceux qui en ont vraiment besoin. Ce qui semble bien être dorénavant le cas de Lydia. Beta, protecteur au grand cœur ? Un autre personnage se préoccupe au moins de ceux de son camp, c’est Beta, qui exprime plus de compassion qu’Alpha, bon ok, j’avoue que ce n’est pas difficile, quand il vient auprès d’un chuchoteur qui va bientôt devenir un gardien. Et oui, gardien, voilà le mot qui désigne les zombies pour les chuchoteurs, oui, je sais, pas le droit d’utiliser la notion de zombie puisqu’elle n’existe pas dans le monde de TWD, mais bon, ce sont des zombies quand même, on est d’accord. Un vocable bien choisi pour souligner le rôle des marcheurs dans le mode de vie choisi par les chuchoteurs. Les gardiens sont leurs compagnons de route, leur bouclier, leur arme de dissuasion et leur camouflage. Les bannières des communautés Alors que le désir de vengeance de Beta se ressent dans son regard, l’épisode nous amène à la Foire commerciale en pleine installation au Royaume, une transition qui pourrait ne pas être si anodine. La bannière d’Alexandria vient rejoindre celle des trois autres communautés participantes et on obtient la confirmation qu’Oceanside existe toujours bel et bien. Chaque bannière marque la spécificité de sa communauté, Shiva qui porte une couronne pour le Royaume, on retrouve d’ailleurs une statue à l’effigie de la tigresse et toujours la volonté de faire renaître l’expression artistique. Les poissons et la bordure maritime pour Oceanside, évidemment, les cultures pour la Colline et le moulin pour Alexandria. On remarque que le soleil est présent sur chaque bannière, comme un lien les unissant. On peut aussi y voir un signe de l’importance de l’ensoleillement lorsque la survit dépend des cultures et on repense à l’importance du soleil dans la plupart des religions anciennes. Highwaymen, Police 2000 ! On apprend qu’un événement important est survenu hors champ puisqu’un groupe mené par Jerry s’est fait dépouiller de son équipement revient avec une tentative de racket par écrit en bonne et due forme. Contrairement à ce que je supposais la semaine dernière, c’est bel et bien d’un nouveau groupe dont il est question, les Highwaymen, qui sont certainement de grands fans des séries obscures de la fin des années 80 en référence à ce qui fut diffusé en France sous le nom Police 2000. On reconnaît le symbole aperçu dans l’épisode 11 au dos de la lettre et Carol apprécie la maîtrise de l’orthographe, c’est sûr, ça fait tout de suite plus sérieux. Les secrets de tatie Carol Quand Diane évoque la possibilité qu’il s’agisse de Jed et quelques autres Sauveurs, nous spectateurs sommes dans la connivence avec Carol puisqu’on l’a vu les cramer sans pitié après leur attaque contre elle et Henry. L’une des surprises de l’épisode, c’est justement qu’on découvre un visage plus pacifique de Carol, même si on la savait déjà intelligente. C’est elle qui propose de tenter la négociation plutôt que l’attaque frontale contre les Highwaymen et c’est elle aussi qui pense à l’attrait d’une séance de cinéma. Elle y pense certainement en observant leurs accoutrements qui ressemblent plus à des costumes de théâtre ou de cinéma qu’à des vêtements pratiques. Des mannequins, mais pas des plows Au passage, on peut apprécier l’auto-référence de la série quand elle décide de placer les membres du groupe parmi des mannequins inanimés, dans la pénombre, pour qu’il soit plus difficile de les distinguer. Et oui, on pense forcément aux chuchoteurs cachés parmi les marcheurs. Dans un timing qui peut surprendre, les nouvelles recrues de la sécurité du Royaume arrivent de justesse pour tirer la caravane en provenance de la Colline d’un bien mauvais pas. Jeunes et vieux Au passage, on peut quand même souligner que la façon dont le vieux couple et le bébé se retrouvent isolés sans personne pour les aider est quand un même un peu exagérée. Soit le groupe est tactiquement nul, soit la série voulait juste nous faire une fausse frayeur gratuite. Et aussi, le coffre avec les trous pour la respiration, voilà qui m’a fait penser au film Sans un Bruit. Il est assez sympa de retrouver les jeunes avec qui Henry avait fait le mur dans une scène un peu plus sérieuse, au moins ça leur donne une forme d’existence en dehors de leur escapade pour laquelle ces personnages semblaient être sortis de nulle part. Point d’étranglement Retour maintenant sur la meilleure portion de l’épisode et ce qui lui donne son titre, choke point, un point d’étranglement en stratégie militaire, par exemple le passage des Thermopyles pour la fameuse bataille éponyme qui a inspiré 300. Cette fois, pas de leader au nom de chocolat belge, mais bien Daryl, qui forme avec Lydia la team friture et cheveux gras. Avant d’en venir au choc des titans, un mot sur les autres, Connie s’en sort particulièrement bien, d’autant que sa surdité est un sérieux désavantage dans de telles conditions. Et si vous vous demandez comment elle a su pour l’esquive du couteau, c’est un reflet de la lame qu’elle a aperçu de justesse. Henry, ce winner Henry fait plus ou moins n’importe quoi, comme d’habitude, puisqu’il a promis d’essayer de ne pas tuer les gens du groupe de Lydia pour au final se faire empaler par sa propre lance, du moins celle qu’il avait préparé pour Lydia pour finalement la laisser traîner dans le coin. Petit retour en arrière. Evidemment les deux ados sont en pleine ébullition des hormones, Henry a déjà oublié Carol et Ezekiel et part d’un voyage au bout du monde avec sa dulcinée rencontrée il y a 5 minutes. Admettons, c’est assez représentatif de la vigueur insouciante de la jeunesse. Encore un petit retour en arrière quand même. Qui est l’abruti qui se vautre en pleine fuite, c’est Henry évidemment. Henry qui s’étonne que le groupe ne fonce pas vers la Colline, preuve qu’il ne pense absolument pas aux conséquences de ses actes. Dog, saut périlleux ! Heureusement que Daryl et Connie sont là pour limiter la casse et la petite intervention au moment du baiser était la bienvenue. La belle histoire des deux jeunes risque de causer de sérieux dégâts, ainsi va la vie. Pour Henry, heureusement que Lydia et Dog sont là, avec un super saut d’attaque quand même, bravo au chien et aux dresseurs, c’était impressionnant, comme rarement avec les chiens dans la fiction. Evidemment, l’affrontement qu’on attendait tous c’était Daryl contre Goliath, enfin, vous voyez quoi et franchement, c’était sympa. Beta vs Daryl J’aurais préféré que Beta domine encore plus largement, mais en analysant l’ensemble, il est clair que les héros ne l’emportent que grâce à leur connaissance du terrain. En résumé, leur piège fonctionne. Beta commence fort avec le coup de la porte bouclier, un truc que j’ai déjà fait dans un jeu de rôle, du coup je suis d’autant plus fan. Daryl récolte deux “kills” bien violents avec le coup de hache et l’égorgement. Concernant le combat à couteaux tirés, on a bien sûr la force brute face à l’agilité. Il faut rappeler que Daryl avait l’habitude des costauds avec son frère Merle, mais cette fois c’est le modèle du dessus. Evidemment, il est improbable qu’il ait pu avoir le temps de se glisser dans la trappe, mais au moins Daryl l’emporte cette fois par la ruse, sachant que le combat frontal ne tournait clairement pas en sa faveur. La revanche de Jason Beta On nous offre même une fin digne d’un film de série Z, avec ces tueurs qui se relèvent sans cesse, c’était facile, mais allez on prend, admettons que le gars tombe de 6 bons mètres sur le dos et sur du métal sans blessure grave. Les dernières minutes voient la décision de Daryl de passer à Alexandria pour rafistoler Henry, et je suis sûr que Michonne sera ravie que les chuchoteurs découvrent l’existence de la communauté. Plutôt cool de réunir ces personnages et sans doute l’occasion d’un flashback pour enfin découvrir l’origine des cicatrices de Michonne et Daryl. Quant à Carol, elle demande où est Henry et avec la réponse, je parie qu’elle partira à sa recherche en laissant la Foire sans sa divine protection. Reste à savoir ce qu’elle risque de retrouver à son retour.
